Lemon Poppy Seed Cold Process Soap not only does the lemon poppy seed soaps smell amazing, they whip up in only 10 minutes and give your skin a lovely exfoliation to remove dead skin cells and give you a glow!

 

 

I have been meaning to make a beginner cold process soap tutorial and recipes for a while, but I never got to it! Well here you go! Today is the beginning of are cold process soap recipe tutorials. We will start with making lemon poppy seed soap and go from there. This recipe is all natural and will consist of oils you can find at your local grocery store or big box store. I find that the lard and shortening was very moisturizing and I didn’t need to much lotion when using the soap. I thought this recipe was easy to begin with and I hope you enjoy it. If you have no clue where to find mica, I am sure you can find it on Amazon! Well let’s get into this tutorial and what you will need. 

 

CAUTION FIRST: Suit up for safe handling practices. That means goggles, gloves, and long sleeves. Make sure kids, pets, other distractions, and tripping hazards are out of the house or don’t have access to your soaping space. Always soap in a well-ventilated area. 

 

Lemon Poppy Seed Cold Process Soap Recipe:  

5 oz. Olive Oil  

5 oz. Shortening (soybean oil)  

10 oz. Lard 

2.59 oz. Lye  

6.60 oz. Distilled water 

1.50 oz. Lemon essential oil

2-3 tbsps. Poppy seeds  

1 tsp. Yellow mica 

1 tbsp. Olive oil  

Lemon Poppy Seed Cold Process Soap Recipe Directions:  

1. Mix mica into olive oil and set aside. Slowly add lye to distilled water and gently stir until lye has completely dissolved and cooled.   
2. In a microwave safe container melt lard, olive oil and shortening until dissolved in the microwave for about 3 minutes. I did this in 30 second intervals. Oil mixture should be 120-130 degrees. 
3. Once the lye water and the oils have cooled to 130 degrees or below, (this temperature is perfect for the oils as well) add the lye water to the oils and stick blend the mixture to a thin to medium trace. 
4. Add mica and essential oil and stick blend to medium trace, if trace is to thick just wish in the mica and essential oils 
5. Add poppy seeds and use a whisk or spatula to fully mix them in. 
6. Pour soap in soap mold and let sit for 1-3 days or until soap has become hard.
