How to Make: Dried Cherries

23 July, 2014 by Shundara@Savynaturalista

Dried Cherries    Summer has all the perks of seasonal fruit and cherries are one of them! Not only are they high in antioxidants they taste good as well. I prefer dried cherries because I’m a sucker for anything made in a dehydrator.  These cherries are pretty simple to make, and if you don’t have a cherry pitter (I understand your pain) you’re in luck!

Dried Cherries

What You Will Need:
Knife
Cherries
Dehydrator

Dried Cherries  I find that if you slice the cherries four ways the pit is easier to take out! But I really should get a cherry pitter for days like this.

Dried Cherries    It took me almost an hour to pit the whole bag, but it’s always worth it. They taste so gooood!

Dried Cherries      I like to dry them  out overnight  at 115. That way they are soft and chewy.

My copain’s brother brought some picked cherries few weeks ago and they were so juicy and tasty and quickly the bowl of cherries disappeared in a few hours. Thanks for the lovely step by step photos, I’ve never dried fruits before! I would use the dried cherries on my oatmeal and grits, mmmm!

I love dried cherries! These look fantastic! I wonder if doing them in the oven for a long period of time would also work? :)
